While it may not be quite as famous as Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge, the nearby city of Sevierville, Tennessee is absolutely worth a visit! Located just a short drive from the Great Smoky Mountains, Sevierville is overflowing with fun things to see and do. 1. The Apple Barn
The Apple Barn Cider Mill & General Store is one of the most popular shopping and dining destinations in the Smoky Mountains. Located beside an apple orchard with over 4,000 trees, the Apple Barn is famous for its homemade cider and desserts. Some of the tasty treats you’ll find at the Apple Barn’s Cider Bar include fried apple pies, apple cinnamon donuts, old-fashioned apple stack cakes, and apple butter muffins. In addition to the Cider Mill & General Store, the Apple Barn Village is home to a winery, creamery, candy store, Christmas shop, and two excellent restaurants.
2. CLIMB Works Smoky Mountains
It’s easy to spend the whole day at CLIMB Works Smoky Mountains! You’ll have quite the adventure as you soar through the trees on 9 world-class ziplines and experience the Smoky Mountains like never before. The canopy tour begins with an ATV ride to the top of the mountain and ends with a surprise! Nothing compares to the breathtaking views you’ll get on this incredible adventure at CLIMB Works.
3. Dolly Parton Statue
Dolly Parton is Sevierville’s favorite daughter, and she has a statue to prove it! Outside of the Sevier County Courthouse, visitors can take a selfie with a bronze statue of the Queen of Country Music. Sculpted by local artist Jim Gray in 1987, the Dolly Parton statue has become the most iconic landmark in downtown Sevierville.
4. Smoky Mountain Deer Farm & Exotic Petting Zoo
The Smoky Mountain Deer Farm is another one of the best attractions in Sevierville TN. Guests at this unique petting zoo will have the chance to feed a number of friendly critters that you don’t see every day, such as deer, goats, camels, kangaroos, zebra, emu, elk, reindeer, and miniature horses. The Deer Farm is also home to a great horseback riding stable and 140 acres of gorgeous trails.
5. Tennessee Legend Distillery
No trip to the Smoky Mountains is complete without sampling some of the area’s signature moonshine! At Tennessee Legends Distillery, adults can enjoy free tastings of authentic Appalachian white whiskey. The distillery’s moonshine comes in a variety of fun flavors, including apple pie, blackberry, coffee, and grape.
6. Forbidden Caverns
Forbidden Caverns is the only attraction in town that takes you underground! Named after an old Cherokee legend that describes a “hollow mountain of two streams…which is forbidden”, this fascinating cave features stalactites, stalagmites, moonshine stills, and a stream. Forbidden Caverns is outfitted with multicolored lights, which allow guests to see all of the beautiful rock formations.
7. Smoky Mountain Knife Works
Smoky Mountain Knife Works offers a one-of-a-kind shopping experience. Visitors to this massive store can explore three floors stocked with thousands of knives, kitchen utensils, outdoor tools, and martial arts weapons. Featuring an indoor waterfall and an animatronic band of bears, Smoky Mountain Knife Works truly has something for the whole family.
