This news shouldn’t be too big of a shock for Dolly Parton fans. The Smoky Mountain singer/songwriter has already earned a total of seven Grammy awards, including the prestigious GRAMMY Lifetime Achievement Award that she received in 2011. For long-time friend Kenny Rogers, this new nomination would mark his fourth Grammy award.
Dolly and Kenny first took the stage together in 1983 with their ever-popular song Islands in The Stream. This song went on to win “Greatest Country Duet Of All Time” in 2005.
Dolly Parton’s latest Grammy nominations is exciting news to follow up her recent announcement that the iconic Smoky Mountain native will be hosting a special charity concert in her home town’s back yard. Benefitting her world-wide Imagination Library program, Dolly’s concert will be her first East Tennessee appearance since helping her partners with Dollywood announce both the FireChaser Express roller coaster and the $300 million DreamMore resort coming to the Pigeon Forge amusement park earlier this summer.
