Smoky Mountain Winterfest is one of the biggest celebrations in Sevier County, TN. The area is decorated with more than 5 million twinkling lights and Christmas displays. Millions of Lights
The Island in Pigeon Forge is decorated in millions of beautiful Christmas lights that come to life when the sun goes down. Nothing will get you into the holiday spirit more than seeing its 23 acres illuminated in holiday colors. You can admire the decorations as you relax in the chairs around The Island Show Fountain, or stroll through the Market Street to see all the festive decorations.
Tree Lighting Ceremony
Each year, The Island holds a special Tree Lighting Ceremony for its 40-foot walk-through Christmas tree. This year’s event kicked off on Nov. 23 and featured, food, fun and free concerts! Paula Deen even made an appearance to help ring in the holidays! She and her family visited to participate in the ceremony as the tree was lit and visitors were met with the sight of a beautiful tree with half a million lights, 40,000 ornaments and more than 5,000 feet of garland. The event also featured country recording duo, The Young Fables.
Live Music & Carolers
During Winterfest at The Island in Pigeon Forge, you can expect to hear plenty of live music and performances from Christmas carolers! The music is sure to get you into the holiday spirit. You can hear live music daily on the outdoor stage outside of Ole Smoky Moonshine, and during the holiday season, you can hear carolers dressed as elves, reindeer and other Christmas characters sing your favorite Christmas classics.
Photos with Santa
Of course it wouldn’t be a holiday celebration without the big man in red making an appearance! Throughout Winterfest at The Island, you can meet Santa Claus and get your picture taken with him. Make your way to the breezeway behind the Island Show Fountains to see a modern-day Santa’s Workshop and be greeted by the jolly good fellow himself! Photos with Santa are available from 3 to 8 p.m. every Saturday, starting Nov. 23 and ending Dec. 21. Photos will also be available on Friday, Dec. 20.
