New Addition Announced for This Year’s Pigeon Forge Winterfest

Winterfest 2022 is going to be bigger and brighter than ever, in part due to the new additions being added to the festival. Pigeon Forge announced that this year’s event will debut 20 new outdoor light displays, which will account for over one million LED lights. The headline sculptures can be found at the city’s Riverwalk nature trail. Here is everything you need to know about the new addition to Pigeon Forge Winterfest:

What to Expect

Smoky Mountain Christmas lights at the Pigeon Forge Trolley Station.The all-new Winterfest Wonders of Light Walking Trail will provide guests with a new and exciting way to take in the holiday lights all winter long! The displays are going to be programmed with music with some standing at over 25 feet tall! Among the new sculptures will be an arch tunnel of lights, a colorful 52-foot-long caterpillar, larger-than-life flowers, and so much more! The $1.5 million investment by the city of Pigeon Forge is set to be the largest addition to Winterfest since 1989. The walking trail will span from the Riverwalk to the intersection of Old Mill Avenue and Butler Street.

More Details About the Festival

Pigeon Forge Winterfest is one of the largest free outdoor lights festivals in the entire country. In previous years, more than two million people have traveled to the Smoky Mountains to catch a glimpse of the wonderful light displays that align the Parkway. With the addition of the Winterfest Wonders of Light Walking Trail, the festival is primed to be better than ever before! This year’s Winterfest event kicks off on November 10th and runs through February 19th, giving your family plenty of time to enjoy the marvelous lights. Parking for the new walking trail portion of the event can be found at the city’s Municipal Parking Lot on Teaster Lane, as well as at Patriot Park, the LeConte Center, and The Old Mill.

The Showstreet theater at Dollywood lit up with Christmas lights.As you travel through Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, you can enjoy the sights of millions of twinkling lights that tell stories of the Smoky Mountains. Beginning November 5th, the spirit of the season takes over the theme park with over 5 million lights, shows that spread Christmas cheer, and plenty of wonderful sweet treats to enjoy.
