About the Music in the Mountains Spring Parade

marching band with drumsThis year’s Music in the Mountains Spring Parade features Baseball Hall of Famer Cal Ripken as the grand marshal. Cal Ripken Jr. has served as the grand marshal of the parade for the since 2018. He is the owner of the Ripken Experience Pigeon Forge, a $22.5 million youth baseball facility that opened in 2016. Before Cal Ripken Jr. stepped into the role, Dolly Parton served as the parade’s grand marshal for 32 years. On January 25, 2018, officials from the city of Pigeon Forge and the Dollywood theme park announced that what was then known as Dolly’s Homecoming Parade was getting a makeover and becoming the Music in the Mountains Spring Parade.

The Music in the Mountains Spring Parade in Pigeon Forge showcases the musical heritage of the Smoky Mountains. The parade features a variety of entertainment provided by the popular theaters in Pigeon Forge, as well as high school marching bands, dance groups, local celebrities, floats, majorettes, horses and more! Several businesses in the area will take part in the parade as well, like The Old Mill and Hatfield & McCoy Dinner Feud.

When is the Music in the Mountains Spring Parade?

The Music in the Mountains Spring Parade will be held on April 13, 2024 at 11 a.m. The parade’s route will stretch down the Pigeon Forge Parkway, beginning at Traffic Light #6 and heading to Traffic Light #3.

What to Bring to the Music in the Mountains Spring Parade

When you attend the Music in the Mountains Spring Parade, bring one of your favorite foldable chairs with you so that you have somewhere to sit during the event. Keep in mind that northbound lanes will close in preparation for the parade, and you should arrive early to guarantee you get a good parking spot and viewing spot for the parade! Free parking for the parade is available at the LeConte Center or Patriot Park, and parade viewing is free for everyone.
