Dollywood Welcomes Spring with Exciting Grand Opening
The most popular theme park in the Smoky Mountains is opening once again! Having been closed for the season, Dollywood is super excited for their spring grand opening in Pigeon Forge! Here’s what’s happening at Dollywood in 2014:
When is Dollywood open?
East Tennessee’s most popular theme park will open on March 22, 2014 at 10 a.m. The park will be closed on Tuesdays, until May 27.
Sunday through Friday, with the exception of Tuesday, the park will open at 10 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. On Saturday, the park will open at 10 a.m. and close at 8 p.m., to give families an extra hour to enjoy the warm weather and exciting rides and attractions.
Dollywood has said that there will be a few new additions when they open this spring, including their new family roller coaster, FireChaser Express. The ride will be located at Wilderness Pass, across from the Wild Eagle coaster. Kids only have to be 39” tall to ride, so families will be able to go from ‘zero to hero in 1.1 seconds’ together. The coaster is the first dual-launch ride in the park, sending riders forward and backward.

As well as their new ride, here’s what else visitors can expect this season:
- New entrance experience at the front gate
- New shopping at the main fountain
- New hot dog place on Wilderness Pass
- Festival of Nations featuring almost 36 countries
What is the Festival of Nations at Dollywood?
The Festival of Nations takes place at Dollywood from March 22 through April 21, 2014. During this month, Dollywood strives to show guests a variety of cultural experiences. Featuring countries from around the world, visitors will have a chance to see exciting cultural performances, taste delicious foods from around the globe and purchase beautiful works of art from a variety of countries. Make sure to stop by Showstreet to see Dollywood’s ‘One World Celebration’ that brings together all of the performers with a special musical performance.
