Local Pigeon Forge Amusement Park Closes Its Doors
The Dollywood theme park attraction in Pigeon Forge is shutting the gates and closing the doors. As Dollywood finishes up their Smoky Mountain Christmas celebration on January 4, 2014, they have plans to close the popular theme park.Visitors to the Smoky Mountains will no longer be waiting in line for thrill rides, enjoying southern comfort foods or experiencing any of the exciting shows starring Dolly Parton herself.
But don’t worry, we have good news, too! Fortunately, Dollywood won’t be closed for long. Every year, the amusement park closes up for the winter season with plans to open a few months later.
Dollywood is set to reopen on Saturday, March 22, 2014. That day, the park will open at 10 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. The amusement park will remain open six days per week (every day except Tuesdays) from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. On Saturdays, the park will stay open until 8 p.m., giving families an extra hour to experience all of the fun at Dollywood.
When Dollywood reopens, guests can expect to see a new addition to the park. In March, the FireChaser Express roller coaster will be complete, as part of the first stage of the 10-year $300 million dollar project at Dollywood. The FireChaser Express is the first dual launch family roller coaster, and here’s what you can expect to see in March:
