It’s Baseball Time in Tennessee!

Warmer weather means it’s time for baseball to begin. Sevier County has its own minor-league baseball team, the Tennessee Smokies. And what better way to spend a sunny spring day than at the ballpark?

The Smokies are the Double-A affiliate of the
Chicago Cubs. They play at the beautiful Smokies Park, located right off of
Interstate 40, at Exit 407. Tickets are on
sale now
and they have lots of promotions and theme nights, so be sure to
look at the schedule to find what game best suits you. And the great thing
about admission prices to minor league games is that they’re so low – $6 can
get you through the turnstiles. The home opener is Tuesday, April 10. And this
team has a lot of potential big-league players on the roster. In fact, 5 of the
Cubs’ 10 best minor-league prospects played for the Smokies in 2011. The team
won the Northern Division of the Southern League for the third straight year.

The great thing about minor-league baseball is the
interaction with the fans. There’s always something going on – contests on the
field between innings, giveaways in the stands, fan clubs for kids and senior
citizens, picnic and birthday party packages, etc. There’s a party deck you can
rent for a big group, luxury boxes, the Double Play Café,

The Smokies were recently honored as the
organization of the year for all of Minor League Baseball. That means from more
than 160 minor league teams across the country, the best one is here in Sevier
County! It’s an award based on stability of the franchise, and contributions to
the league, community and the baseball industry. So the next time you’re
visiting the Smokies, come spend some time cheering on the Smokies!
