Dollywood Wins 3 Golden Ticket Awards for 2019

The Golden Ticket Awards are given out annually to honor the best of the best in the amusement industry, and Dollywood won more awards than any other park. These awards are the most sought after in the industry, which is why it’s such an honor that the theme park was recognized! We’ve got all the details on the awards and why you should visit Dollywood.
Amusement Today’s Golden Ticket Awards
Amusement Today is the industry’s leading trade publication! Every year, they hold their Golden Ticket Awards, which are designed to honor the best of the amusement industry. To get the results, a survey is sent to experienced and well traveled amusement park fans around the world, who vote the best in categories like parks, roller coasters, food, and more. Dollywood won the top spot in 3 award categories and made it in the top 10 for 4 more categories. Here are all the awards the park was recognized for:
- Best Guest Experience
- Best Kids’ Area (Wildwood Grove)
- Best Christmas Event
- Best Food – Second Place
- Best Park – Second Place
- Most Beautiful Park – Third Place
- Best Wooden Coaster (Lightning Rod) – Seventh Place
The Best Guest Experience award was new this year, so Dollywood is the first winner for that category! It combines the previous Friendliest Park Award with the Cleanest Park Award. It’s also the first year that the park has won the Best Kids’ Area award because of its new addition of Wildwood Grove. Wildwood Grove was introduced as the 2019 expansion, offering family-friendly rides, entertainment, and play areas. It’s the 12th consecutive year that Dollywood has won the Best Christmas Event for Smoky Mountain Christmas. Smoky Mountain Christmas includes more than 5 million twinkling lights and helps visitors celebrate the true meaning of Christmas.
Other Awards
The Golden Ticket Awards aren’t the only awards that Dollywood has won recently! The theme park’s Great Pumpkin LumiNights held in the fall won the travel award for Best Theme Park Halloween Event from USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards. This award means a lot because it’s voted on by visitors like you! Great Pumpkin LumiNights is part of the park’s popular Harvest Festival and features illuminated jack-o-lanterns, pumpkin-themed food, entertainment, and more. Visitors can enjoy a character meet and greet, glow face painting, and specialty foods like caramel apple sundaes and candy corn cotton candy.
The park was also the winner of the 2019 Thea Classic Award, which is given only to the most outstanding theme parks and attractions. It is considered a top industry standard and reserved for a theme park or attraction that has “stood the test of time.”
