With flowers blooming and temperatures warming up, that can only mean one thing: It’s springtime in Gatlinburg. When you visit the Smoky Mountains during the spring, you’ll be able to find countless outdoor activities to enjoy. When getting ready for vacation, it’s important to have an idea of what the weather will be like so you know what to prepare for and what to pack. During the spring in Gatlinburg, temperatures can vary. It tends to stay somewhere between 60 and 70 degrees, which is perfect for spending time outside! Last year, the average high during spring was 71 degrees, and the average low was 62 degrees. Here are the Gatlinburg weather averages broken down by months:

If you visit after mid-May, don’t miss out on your chance to go to Dollywood’s Splash Country! The water park is the best way to soak up the sun while having hours of fun on all the water rides and splashing around in the pools. It’s great for the whole family! And of course it wouldn’t be a spring vacation in the Smoky Mountains without visiting the Great Smoky Mountains National Park to see the wildflowers! There are more than 1,500 kinds of flowering plants in the mountains. Enjoy the weather and go for a hike in the park to see the gorgeous flowers!

What to Pack for a Spring Vacation

When you’re packing for vacation, make sure you’re paying attention to what the weather is supposed to be like during your time in the Smoky Mountains. For a spring vacation, we recommend bringing clothes for warm weather during the day and cooler temperatures in the evening. It’s always handy to have a sweatshirt or light jacket with you regardless of the season. Weather can be unpredictable, so make sure you bring clothes for both rain and shine. And once you plan out some of the activities you want to do, you’ll be able to pick out the perfect outfits! If you plan on going to Dollywood’s Splash Country, make sure you bring your bathing suit and sunscreen for a fun day at the water park! It’s always good to have a pair of sunglasses with you too, and comfortable shoes for exploring the area.
