This November, our favorite hometown hero is coming back to the Smokies – and she’s bringing a few friends with her! To celebrate the premiere of the Coat of Many Colors sequel, Dolly Parton and the stars of the TV movie will attend a special red carpet event at Dollywood. Visit My Smokies has all of the details on the celebrities’ visit to the theme park.
A Little Bit of Hollywood at Dollywood
The cast of “Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love” will be at Dollywood on Tuesday, November 22, 2016. In addition to Dolly Parton, guests can expect to see Jennifer Nettles (who plays Dolly’s mother), Ricky Schroder (who plays Dolly’s father), Alyvia Alyn Lind (who plays young Dolly), and other actors from the film.
At 5 p.m., the stars will walk along the red carpet on Dollywood’s Showstreet to greet the press. Guests at the theme park will have the chance to see the celebrities as they make their way down the carpet, so be sure to bring your camera!
After giving interviews and posing for pictures, the cast of the film will enter a theater for a private screening of the movie. Unfortunately, guests at Dollywood will have to wait until the end of November to see the film on television. However, visitors to the theme park will have the chance to enjoy the Parade of Many Colors, a new addition to Dollywood’s Smoky Mountain Christmas Festival featuring holiday floats, costumed characters, and thousands of glittering lights.
Dollywood will be open from 2 – 9 p.m. on November 22. The red carpet event is open to anyone who has purchased tickets to the theme park or has a season pass. To buy your tickets, click on the box below:
When to Watch “Christmas of Many Colors”
“Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love” will premiere at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, November 30 on NBC. As the sequel to the popular “Coat of Many Colors” TV movie, this holiday special will tell the next chapter in young Dolly Parton’s life.
Drawing on actual events from Dolly’s childhood in the Smoky Mountains, the movie finds the Parton clan facing an unexpected Christmas blizzard. As Dolly’s father attempts to find enough money to finally buy his wife a wedding ring, little Dolly discovers that she may be destined for a music career beyond the borders of Sevier County.
The original cast from “Coat of Many Colors” returns for the sequel along with a new addition: Dolly Parton! The real Dolly will make a cameo in the movie as a character she calls “the town trollop”.
When Dolly was growing up in Sevierville, she was fascinated by a local woman who used to wear lots of makeup and flashy clothing. As Dolly broke into the music industry, she patterned her signature look on this figure from her childhood. Now, it is only fitting that Dolly play the role of the “painted lady” herself!
