There’s a rich heritage of music in the Smoky Mountains. Bluegrass, folk, country, etc., all have connections here. And the love of music is evident by the number of musical reviews in the area. So when a new music show opens, it’s likely to be embraced. And the newest review to reach Sevier County has a lot of soul.

Vacations cost money, right? That’s always one of the discussion points before you head away from home – how much, what if we stay here instead, eating out versus cooking at the cabin, etc. Well, if you'd like to save money while on vacation in the Smoky Mountains (stay with me here), come to Sevier County the first weekend of August.

In previous posts, we’ve told you about the different ways to view The Smokies – zip line, hot air balloon, ATV, etc. One method we haven’t mentioned is horseback riding. It is a relaxing way to take in your surroundings at a leisurely pace. There are plenty of options if you chose the equine-style of travel.

The Smoky Mountains leave many people in awe of their beauty, with the dramatic landscapes and colors. Sevier County is fortunate to have numerous artists who do a great job of bringing the area to life with their work. One of the best is Robert Tino.

You know, man’s ability to fly is really amazing; no, not like Spiderman, but the whole process of putting a contraption in the air and sustaining it there until we’re ready to land it. Imagine how difficult that was for the pioneers in aviation, without our modern technology to help them. If you are fascinated by flight and especially military planes, there’s a place in Sevierville you need to see.

For many people, when they travel, they want to get out and do stuff. Not like shop, play putt-putt, or other non-strenuous activities, but hike, bike, hang glide, raft, etc. One of the best places in the Smoky Mountains to do outdoor things that may get your heart racing is CLIMB Works Smoky Mountains.

What is it about barbeque? It seems to evoke reactions in meat lovers that you don’t see regarding other foods. Ketchup, mustard, vinegar, dry rub, pulled pork, ribs – all of these mean something different depending on where you live and your preference. I haven’t heard a lot of arguing when it comes to kale versus cabbage.

You probably know all about what Sevier County has to offer – shopping, the national park, hiking, rafting, attractions, etc. But one of the best kept secrets is the three golf courses that offer challenging play and unique views.

When you think of the Amish, you probably think of areas in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana or New York. You probably know of their well-regarded works, such as furniture, quilts and food. The good news is that you don’t have to go to those places to get some Amish goods, because we have them here in Sevier County.

If you travel often, you learn about businesses that are unique to their community. Maybe it’s a local restaurant serving specialty food, or a custom tailor who uses cloth or patterns not generally found. If you come to Sevier County, chances are you’ll see or hear something about the Smoky Mountain Knife Works, and for good reason.
