Gatlinburg Scenic Overlook

One of the most popular photo spots in the Smokies, the Gatlinburg Scenic Overlook is located on the Gatlinburg Bypass. Here guests can pause for a minute or two, and take in the breath-taking beauty that the scenic Smoky Mountains has to offer. Along with the mountains, visitors to the overlook experience a bird’s eye view of many of the exciting restaurants and attractions in Gatlinburg.

Clingmans Dome

Being the tallest peak in Tennessee, it is no question that Clingmans Dome belongs on the list of best photo spots in the scenic Smoky Mountains.  In addition to the scenic sights along the trail, Clingmans Dome also offers visitors a 360-degree observation deck where some visitors have reported being able to see over 100 miles away. Don’t feel like hiking all the way to the top? Visitors can also use a paved road to access the observation deck at the top, but please keep in mind the road is often closed December-March.

Spruce Flats Falls

Willing to travel a little off the beaten path? According to Southern Living Magazine, the ultimate photo spot in the Smokies is at Spruce Flats Falls. Often absent from hiking maps, Spruce Flats Falls is located at the end of the brief one-mile hike behind the Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont. With gorgeous seasonal foliage, a roaring waterfall, and native wildlife, this secret spot provides visitors with the ultimate photo op.

Other popular photo spots in the Smokies include Cades Cove, Abrams Creek Trail, Roaring Fork Driving Trail, and Mouse Creek Falls.
