5 Ways To Save Money On Your Next Smoky Mountain Vacation

Jar filled with coins labeled "Vacation"Vacations are fun, but they can also be really expensive. Cut costs on your family or group’s next Smoky Mountain vacation by following a few of these simple tips.

Vacation in the Winter

Although there are fun and exciting things to do in the Smokies all year round, visitors that come to the area know very well how easy it is to find a discounted cabin rental or condo in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge during the slower season. Many of the popular shows and attractions are still open during this time, and there is a lot less traffic, so you can still enjoy all your favorite Smoky Mountain activities without most of the stress.

Find Coupons

You already know that coupons are a great way to cut costs on your grocery bill, but why not apply that strategy to your next vacation? You may think that these deals and discounts are hard to find, but at Visit My Smokies we make it a point to provide guests with tons of useful coupons to use on their next Smoky Mountain vacation. With deals to places like Lumberjack Feud and Flapjack’s Pancake cabin, there is a coupon for everyone.

Plan to Cook

One of the best parts about a vacation to the Smokies is that a lot of our lodging options come equipped with full kitchens. Whether you are staying in a secluded Pigeon Forge cabin or a relaxing condo overlooking downtown Gatlinburg, having a kitchen in your rental is a great way to save money during your vacation. Not only do you cut costs on dining out, but you can also be creative with what you do with your leftovers from meal to meal because you probably don’t want to take them back home. A good tip is to plan out your meals before you leave for your vacation, so that way you will know if there is an extra pot or pan you need to bring from home.

Ride the Trolley

Utilizing public transportation is a great way to cut costs no matter what area you travel to, but many guests may not realize what a benefit this is to vacationers in the Smokies. Both the Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge Trolleys can take guests all over the area for as low as $2.50 a day. Not only does this reduce your gas and parking fees down to zero, it is always a good way to sightsee around the area for really cheap! The trolleys both run on main streets every 20-25 minutes, and if you want to go to Wears Valley there is a trolley that runs every 40-45 minutes.

Go Sightseeing

Speaking of sightseeing, taking time out on your next vacation to explore the area will not only help your family create long-lasting memories, but it will also save money. There is no cost to walking up and down the Parkway in Pigeon Forge or downtown Gatlinburg, nor is there a cost to explore the Smoky Mountains on a hiking trail or Visitors Center. All you need is a camera and a sense of adventure for this low-cost activity.
