Top 3 Things To Do in the Smoky Mountains on a Chilly Day

Couple standing by the cabin door with guy kissing girl on the cheekThere is nothing quite like looking out at the snow-capped mountains in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The picturesque scene appears to be more like a Thomas Kinkade painting than really life. The only issue, however, with these beautiful scenes we also get the cold winter weather that come along with them. To help families find fun and exciting things to do on these chilly days, Visit My Smokies has put together a list of the top three things to do in the Smoky Mountains when it’s cold outside.

Relax in a Smoky Mountain cabin

What better way to escape the frigid air than relaxing in front of a warm and cozy fire inside a spacious Smoky Mountain cabin rental? You and your family can watch a movie while sipping on hot chocolate, or unwind in one of the outdoor heated hot tubs to create the perfect relaxing winter vacation in the Smokies.

Visit Ole Smoky Moonshine

Honoring a long time tradition in the Smoky Mountains, Ole Smoky Moonshine Distillery is a perfect place to warm up in the Smokies. To escape the cold, you can take a tour of the distillery and even have a sample or two. The best part? Visiting the distillery is free, and so are the samples, as long as you are above 21 of course!

Go Skiing at Ober Gatlinburg

If you can’t beat the cold, why not join it? The only ski resort in Tennessee, Ober Gatlinburg offers guests everything from thrilling ski slopes to a delicious restaurant. Little ones will enjoy playing in the snow while tubing down the hills or learning how to ice skate at the resort’s year-round rink. You and your family can add to the adventure by riding the Aerial Tramway up to the resort from the Parkway in Gatlinburg.
