Pigeon Forge, TN is well known as one of America’s very best family vacation hubs. However, our Smoky Mountain city is also a wonderful destination for adults! Whether you’re in town with a group of friends or you’re enjoying a couple’s escape, Pigeon Forge is jam-packed with fun attractions and activities that you’re sure to love. To help you make the most of your next getaway, Visit My Smokies has put together a guide to five awesome things to do in Pigeon Forge for adults.
1. Visit The Island in Pigeon Forge
Since it opened in 2013, The Island in Pigeon Forge has been one of the hottest spots for shopping, dining, and entertainment in the Smoky Mountains. Souvenir hunters can explore The Island’s collection of spectacular boutiques, which includes Bodacious Bags, the Ole Smoky Moonshine Barn, Natural Comfort Footwear, The Beef Jerky Outlet, and The Island Trading Post. If you work up an appetite during your shopping spree, we recommend stopping for a bite at one of The Island’s popular restaurants, such as Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen or Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville.
Of course, no trip to The Island is complete without a ride on its iconic 200 foot tall Ferris wheel! Perfect for romantic retreats, the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel offers breathtaking vistas of the city of Pigeon Forge and the national park.
2. Play The Escape Game
Another highlight of visiting The Island is playing The Escape Game. Guests at this attraction are “locked” in a room for 60 minutes and must find clues and solve puzzles in order to escape. Unlike some of the other attractions in Pigeon Forge, The Escape Game offers challenging gameplay that will have adults racking their brains in search of answers. The adventures at The Escape Game are themed around action movie scenarios, such as a prison break, art heist, journey to Mars, and secret agent mission. The Escape Game is a great group activity because you’ll need all of the brainpower you can get to win!
3. Take the Rocky Top Wine Trail
The Rocky Top Wine Trail is a collection of five wineries in the Pigeon Forge area that offer free tastings and tours. Vacationers can stop by Mountain Valley Vineyards, Apple Barn Winery, Hillside Winery, Sugarland Cellars, or Mill Bridge Winery any time during their operating hours to enjoy complimentary samples and fascinating information about the winemaking process. Be sure to get your Rocky Top Wine Trail Passport stamped at each location because participants receive free gifts as they complete the trail. It’s easy to see why wine tasting is one of the most popular things to do in Pigeon Forge for adults!
4. See the Great Smoky Mountain Murder Mystery Dinner Show
The Great Smoky Mountain Murder Mystery Dinner Theater is ideal for adults! This theater produces a number of hilarious shows that parody classic TV programs and movies, including The Dukes of Hazzard, The Beverly Hillbillies, and Gone with the Wind. During the performance, guests will dine on a four-course feast featuring savory soup, pork tenderloin, oven-roasted chicken, mashed potatoes, and Carnegie Deli-style cheesecake. In every show, audience members have the chance to play along and solve the mystery before the murderer is revealed.
5. Relax at the Smoky Mountain Brewery
A night out at the Smoky Mountain Brewery never disappoints! Located in the Walden’s Landing shopping area, the Smoky Mountain Brewery is famous for its craft beer and mouthwatering food. This awesome restaurant hosts regular live music and offers numerous televisions tuned to the big game. While everything at the brewery is delicious, some of our favorite menu items include the pizza, burgers, and chicken wings.
