The Smoky Mountains’ Very Own Elf on the Shelf

smoky the elf visits smoky mountainsSanta’s making a list and checking it twice with the help of a little guy named Smoky. Now, Smoky the Elf has decided to visit his namesake, stopping by popular attractions along the way. He was spotted yesterday at a bus stop in the North Pole, getting ready to make his way to the Smoky Mountains. We, at Visit My Smokies, need your help, though. Every day, we will be sharing a picture, showing you where Smoky is hanging out. Take a look at Visit My Smokies’ Facebook page to see the photo, and to guess where he’s spending time.

Where Did “The Elf on the Shelf” Originate?

“The Elf on the Shelf” has become a popular Christmas tradition, courtesy of East Tennessee native Carol Aebersold. After contacting Santa to see if she could write a book, elves began traveling from the North Pole to watch over children until Christmas Eve. This year, with the help of Visit My Smokies, our area has an elf of its own.

Although Smoky couldn’t speak with us directly, he did write that he’s most excited to be spending the last few days before Christmas in a warmer climate. Lately, it seems the North Pole has been seeing a lot of snow and wintry weather in preparation for Santa’s big trip around the world.

Since we knew he’d be in the area searching for things to do in Pigeon Forge, we’ve been scouting locations he might visit. We’ll be sure to break the news the minute we find him each day, if you promise to check out our Facebook page and see where he’s been spotted!
