About the Rocky Top Wine Trail

There were other wineries in Gatlinburg that were part of the trail, but since then, more have opened and the Gatlinburg Wine Trail has opened. Today, there are 5 wineries in Pigeon Forge and Sevierville that are part of the Rocky Top Wine Trail. You will be able to sample from over 70 unique wines from these shops.

How to Travel the Trail

There are two different ways you can travel along the trail. The first is going on a self-guided tour. You can start at any of the wineries and travel at your own pace. You can even split the tour between a few days! At the first winery you visit, ask one of the employees for a passport. Then as you go to each destination, they will stamp it for you. At the last winery, you will receive a free gift.

Wine bottles lined up for saleThe second way to travel the trail is to sign up for one of the VIP tours. A guide will take you around to select wineries on the trail. In addition to the guide, you will get private behind-the-scenes tours, a food and wine pairing lesson, a swag bag, and discounts on all purchases.

The Wineries

Each of the wineries along the Rocky Top Wine Trail specializes in different kinds of wine. You’ll have fun trying all the different kinds. Here are the wineries along the trail:

Apple Barn Winery

apple barn wineryThe Apple Barn Winery is located in the Apple Barn Village in Sevierville. The wine is made on the property, and instead of grapes, it is made using apples from the orchard on site. You can try their house white or red. They also have several flavors, including Apple Peach and Apple Strawberry.

Apple Barn Cider House

The Apple Barn Cider House is also in the Apple Barn Village, but instead of wine, they have hard cider. They are also crafted on the property from the apples picked from the orchard. You’ll find a traditional apple cider, as well as a hops flavor, berry flavor, and muscadine.

Hillside Winery

Hillside Winery specializes in Italian wines. They take inspiration from the hills of Tuscany. This winery is located in Sevierville, and they partner with local grape farmers to use 856,000 pounds of grapes every year to make their wine. Some of their signature flavors include Black and Blue, Hillside Mist, and Sonata.

Mill Bridge Winery

Mill Bridge Winery is located at the Old Mill Square in Pigeon Forge. This small winery has a quaint feel, and you can taste wines on their patio overlooking the Little Pigeon River. They have food pairings to go with the wine, as well as wine slushies to help you cool off on hot days. Some of their flavors include Water Wheel, Summer Nights, and Little Pigeon.

Mountain Valley Winery

glasses of wine at romantic dinnerMountain Valley Winery is the last winery along the Rocky Top Wine Trail. It is located in Pigeon Forge, and it is one of the oldest wineries in Tennessee. They specialize in sweet fruit wines, and they have won several awards in competitions for their wines. Some of their signature flavors are Red Velvet, Watermelon, and Rhubarb.
