The History Channel to Honor Dollywood on “American Pickers”
One of the best parts about a trip to Dollywood is that it is like a trip down memory lane. Each of the different areas of the park pay tribute to not only the life and times of Dolly Parton, but they honor the rich history of the Smoky Mountains. Today, we are excited to announce that the national cable channel The History Channel has taken notice to the Smoky Mountain history at Dollywood and has decided to honor the Pigeon Forge amusement park in an upcoming episode of their popular show American Pickers.
The show’s stars, Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz, are well-known for their cross-country adventures where they are in search for iconic Americana items to ‘pick’ and sell for a profit. Items they find can range anywhere from vintage signs to classic cars.
However, this time the stars aren’t looking for a profit, they are looking for the iconic and uniquely themed items that are now on display at Dollywood’s brand new FireChaser Express roller coaster. This episode will also have a special appearance from Dolly Parton herself!
The air date for the episode called Mad as a Picker was May 7 at 9 p.m. Eastern Time. In case you weren’t able to catch this airing, the episode was also scheduled for:
- May 8 at 1 a.m.
- May 14 at 8 p.m.
- May 15 at 12 a.m.
- May 17 at 10 p.m.
- May 18 at 2 a.m.
- On Demand

I miss how History Channel used to be with many documentaries that made people think. My favorite was Batman Unmasked –
