Fine Arts for the Family in the Smoky Mountains

There are lots of things for the family to do in Sevier County, but one you probably haven’t thought of is art. That’s right, spending time with mom, dad, and the kids all while taking in the next Van Gogh, Matisse or O’Keefe is a relaxing way to spend a weekend.

The eighth annual Gatlinburg Fine Arts Festival is Labor Day weekend, August 31 – Sept. 2. This outdoor event features artists from across the country and Appalachian music. It is put on by volunteers and benefits several worthy local causes.

Free to attend, the festival is set on the grounds of Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts and features exhibits including crafts from ceramics and glass to watercolor and woodworking, demonstrations, a kid’s area, musical performances, food vendors and more. There are hands-on workshops for adults and kids. You can stroll among the artists and craftsmen and learn their skills while they work. You can develop friendships that last for years with some of the most talented and creative people around.

This Labor Day weekend, why not come see what the beautiful work created from the inspiration of the Smoky Mountains?
