Pigeon Forge Announces Exciting Changes to Wilderness Wildlife Week

Are you interested in connecting with nature on your trip to the Smoky Mountains? For nearly a quarter of a century Wilderness Wildlife Week has brought together nature lovers from all over the country with a full festival of activities. This year the free event in Pigeon Forge will include lectures, workshops, exhibits, hike and much more.

When Pigeon Forge launched Wilderness Wildlife Week, there were only four programs on one Saturday afternoon. Now it spans beyond one week into eight days. Even more exciting this year, the program will move to the LeConte Center in Pigeon Forge, a brand new $45 million, 232,000 square foot special events center in the heart of the city.

The 24th annual Wilderness Wildlife Week begins January 25 and runs until February 1. The Knoxville Daily Sun reported that the program will be expanding into 320 indoor programs and 55 hikes. This will also include excursions and tours into the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

The hikes during Wilderness Wildlife Week are guided, so they can show participants the best places to explore in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. There will be special programs for children as well as programs devoted to mountain trout and fly-fishing. Guests of the event are welcome to attend as much of the event as they would like, from one single session to the entire program.

The original idea behind this annual event in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park was to entertain those who visit and educate them about the wonders of the National Park. Named as one of the Top 20 Events in the Southeast by the Southeast Tourism Society, this year’s program will have more than 200 experts on hand to lead the programs offered.
