4 Holiday Attractions in the Smoky Mountains for Families

The holiday season is a special time in the Smokies. Filled with sparkling lights and merry decor, there is plenty of Christmas-themed entertainment to choose from. If you’re planning to visit and don’t know what to see, Visit My Smokies has created a list of 4 Christmas attractions in the Smoky Mountains you should see on your trip.

1. Christmas at Dollywood

Dollywood Christmas decorationsDollywood is filled to the brim with holiday cheer, featuring special Christmas shows and music. Every available spot in the park is covered in glittering Christmas lights, and the annual “A Carol of the Trees” is certain to amaze. For those who love parades, the Parade of Lights runs throughout the park and features living dolls, elves, and Santa Claus himself. There are so many ways to celebrate the holiday season at Dollywood, including a festive ride on the Dollywood Express, catching a heartwarming showing of Christmas in the Smokies, or taking in the twinkling lights in the trees with a cup of hot chocolate in hand.  Smoky Mountain Christmas at Dollywood runs until the beginning of January.

2. Christmas in Wear’s Valley

The joy of Christmas past can be enjoyed at Christmas in Wear’s Valley. This event runs through the end of December and features horse-drawn wagon rides. Storytelling is also performed on Saturdays, along with live family-friendly music. While you are in Wears Valley, be sure to stop by some of the mom-and-pop restaurants, boutique stores, and art galleries. There are plenty of places along the road where you can stop to look at Christmas lights, and even buy some of your own to take back home so you can celebrate a Smoky Mountain Christmas anywhere. Wears Valley is home to all sorts of incredible hidden gem attractions in the Smoky Mountains!

3. Country Tonite Christmas

Country Tonite Theatre in Pigeon ForgeCountry Tonite is having a two-in-one show that is a shortened version of the regular variety show followed by holiday music, special dances, and guest appearances. The Christmas special runs through December 30 and is filled with colorful costumes and new entertainment. Your family will be amazed by the talented cast members who put their own twist on some Christmas classics. Of course, it’s not a party without guests, so be on the lookout for Santa Claus and his special quests Frosty the Snowman and the Sugar Plum Fairy.

4. Shadrack’s Christmas Wonderland

Bigger than ever, this holiday auto tour is running until January inside the parking lot of Smokies’ Stadium. Not only are there millions of twinkling lights, but children will also have a chance to take a picture with Santa and play in the bouncy house. Upon your arrival, tune your radio to the special station and listen and watch as millions of holiday lights dance along to the sounds of the music. The 2022 festival is going to feature brand new lights and a ton of new surprises, so you will not want to miss it!
