New Baby Eagle at Dollywood
The American Eagle Foundation welcomed a new eagle to the Eagle Mountain Sanctuary in Dollywood on April 17! The eaglet was born to the American Eagle Foundation in Dollywood’s Grant and Glenda. The two were found to have an attraction to each other in 2017 and were moved to their own private aviary at the Eagle Mountain Sanctuary. You can watch the eaglet’s development into adulthood through Dollywood’s live webcam! The webcam is pointed at Grant and Glenda’s nest in the Eagle Mountain Sanctuary. About the Eagle Mountain Sanctuary at Dollywood
The Eagle Mountain Sanctuary at Dollywood is a 30,000-square-foot aviary that houses the country’s largest presentation of non-releasable bald eagles. When you visit Dollywood, you’ll have the chance to catch a rare glimpse of these impressive birds of prey as members of the American Eagle Foundation interact with them. All of the eagles at Dollywood are under the care of the American Eagle Foundation, which is authorized to possess birds for education, exhibition, rehabilitation, and breeding under permits from the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.

Wings of America Birds of Prey
Dollywood is also home to a Wings of America Birds of Prey performance. This entertaining show gives you an up-close look at the eagles and shares fascinating facts as the birds of prey are presented. In addition to eagles, the performance features falcons, hawks, vultures, owls, and other birds of prey. The show typically runs from mid-March through the end of October.
AEF Headquarters in Pigeon Forge
Just a few minutes away from the Dollywood theme park is the American Eagle Foundation Headquarters. At 2957 Veterans Boulevard, visitors can tour the headquarters. Tours are typically offered Mondays through Fridays and must be requested at least seven days in advance online. When you tour the AEF Headquarters, you’ll have the opportunity to meet Challenger, America’s most famous bald eagle. Challenger is famous for flying through sports stadiums during the national anthem. To learn more about Challenger’s story, read our blog, “America’s Most Famous Bald Eagle Lives in Pigeon Forge: The Story of Challenger.” If you want to see Challenger during your tour, be sure to call the AEF Headquarters to see if he’s available during your preferred dates. Tours are available through May 31, 2019, when construction of a new barn for the raptors will begin. Tours will resume when construction is complete.
