Where the Locals Go for Good Food

Whenever and wherever I travel, I always try to find
something local that may not be in the tourist guide. It could be a diner or a
shop selling homemade goods or somewhere to relax that’s out of the way. From
time-to-time, we’ll share with you some of the places in Sevier County that you
may not have heard of, but once you go, you’ll come back to them every time.

Probably the most important thing when you travel is
food. No matter if it’s fine dining or fast food, planning your day nearly
always centers around when and where to eat. If you’re in Gatlinburg, there are
plenty of places to choose from. But if you want to try something a little out
of the way, I’ve got a place that covers both breakfast and lunch. The Mountain
Lodge Restaurant is located at 913 East Parkway, like you’re headed out of town
towards Pittman Center. It’s been in business for more than 20 years and is
probably best described as serving country cooking. They have just about
everything you could want for breakfast, including country ham, waffles,
pancakes, homemade cinnamon rolls, eggs, bacon, etc., all served until 3 p.m.
The lunch menu is extensive also, with specials and standard fare like burgers,
sandwiches, soups, salads, entrees and, best of all, homemade desserts. Don’t
worry about getting dressed up to eat – you’ll be fine in your favorite pair of
blue jeans. You’ll see hikers and bikers, bankers and plumbers, and everyone in
between enjoying good food. Just make sure that pair of blue jeans has some
extra room in it, just to be safe.
