What’s New at Dollywood for Its 35th Season?

Each year, Dollywood becomes even bigger and better than the last. 2019 was a big year for the Pigeon Forge theme park, with the opening of its largest expansion yet: Wildwood Grove. So, what does 2020 have in store for this world-class attraction? Find out what to expect at Dollywood in its 35th season!

1. New Entertainment at Festival of Nations

The start of Dollywood’s 2020 season kicks off with its popular Festival of Nationals. The festival features entertainment from around the world, including 2 new headlining acts. Namaste India is performing for the first time at Dollywood and will take audience members on a tour of the country through dance, music and imagery. You’ll witness a woman’s quest to fulfill her mother’s wishes by taking a trip to India. Ole! is known as “The Gypsy Kings of Comedy. This trio entertains the audience by competing with their guitars voices and energy. And, of course, the Festival of Nations features a fan-favorite: Drumstruck. This act brings the rhythms of West Africa to life, and every audience member gets a drum to play along!

2. Flower and Food Festival

colorful umbrella skyThe biggest new addition to Dollywood this year is the Flower and Food Festival. Nearly half a million plants and flowers will be scattered throughout the park, set up in displays by the Mosaicultures flower sculpting team. Some of the colorful sculptures will take the shape of Smoky Mountain wildlife, including turtles, frogs and black bears. Others are tied to Dolly Parton’s life, including a heart umbrella for “I Will Always Love You” and a sculpture of Parton’s mother for “Coat of Many Colors.” There will also be the Umbrella Sky, which makes for beautiful pictures, and delicious food options that are influenced by the spring season.

3. Gazillion Bubbles Show

Dollywood is bringing back one of its most popular shows for its 2020 season: the Gazillion Bubbles Show. The last time the Gazillion Bubbles Show was at Dollywood was in 2017. The show features bubble artists who do amazing tricks with bubbles and even allow audience members to participate. It will run multiple times each day during Dollywood’s Summer Celebration.

4. Upgrades to Restaurants

Spotlight Bakery, Front Porch Cafe, Aunt Granny’s Restaurant and Miss Lillian’s Smokehouse have all seen improvements. Guests can enjoy new flooring and new aesthetics, as well as improved efficiency. Because of new equipment and new layouts, hosts will be able to serve guests in a more timely manner.

5. Calming Room Upgrades

Dollywood recently announced a partnership with Covenant Health, which will bring a number of new additions to the park over time. Visitors can experience a few of those additions this season at the park. One of those is an upgrade to Dollywood’s calming room. The room was designed to serve as a soothing place where guests who may experience sensory overload can go. The upgrade included a new mounted activity panel in the room, which has activities for guests to focus on to calm down.

Other additions include signs with health tips and hand sanitizing stations placed throughout the park.
