Ober Gatlinburg Now Offers Hiking Trail Experience

Ober Gatlinburg is now offering a guided hiking experience on their property! You’ll find out how to navigate a rugged hiking trail while the whole family enjoys being outdoors! The Trails at Ober

ober gatlinburg chair liftThe Trails at Ober provides guests with an introduction to hiking so they can learn the basics and head out into the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and enjoy other hiking trails. The trail is 1.5 miles roundtrip, and it follows alongside Ober Gatlinburg’s chairlift and the border of the national park. People of all ages will enjoy the adventure of exploring a trail through the woods!

On the hike, the experienced guide will tell hikers about the history of the area and identify wildflowers and other foliage along the trail. You might even spot wildlife along the trail, such as black bears, squirrels, or birds! In addition to flowers and animals, you will be able to see ponds, steps, a bridge, and a wishing well. The guides stop and provide opportunities to rest and hydrate, as well as stops for photo opportunities! This trail is considered easy with rolling hills, but there are uphill climbs to prepare guests for more moderate hikes in the future.

These guided hiking sessions take place Monday through Friday at 11 am, 1 pm, and 3 pm. Hikes will take place whether it is raining or the sun is shining. This guided hiking experience is $20 per person, and people who are 6 years old and up can participate.

Ski and Snowboard

During the winter months, the best thing to do at Ober is ski and snowboard! Ober Gatlinburg is Tennessee’s only ski resort, so you won’t want to miss out on the opportunity to race down the hills in the snow!

Tubing

If you are here in the winter, you can fly down the hill on snow with your family and friends. In the summer, you can still race down the hill in a tube, but instead of going down on snow, you’ll race down on a plastic run that simulates the feeling of being on compacted snow!

Ice Skating

You may think you can only ice skate during the winter at Ober, but you can actually ice skate any time of the year! Their indoor ice skating rink is popular with people of all ages, and you’ll have a blast skating on the ice!
