Multi-Year Expansion at Anakeesta in Gatlinburg
The expansion project is part of Anakeesta’s “Making More Magic” initiative, aimed to expand the park, modernize infrastructure, and elevate the guest experience. The plan emphasizes the immersive aspect of visiting Anakeesta in Gatlinburg, as well as enhancing how guests arrive and how they explore once at the summit. Guests can expect to see new attractions, re-imagined village areas, new scenic overlooks, and a smoother overall experience over the next 5 years.
New Scenic Lift System
A groundbreaking new lift system will replace the current chairlift, providing guests with an improved riding experience. This faster and larger lift system will feature 56 state-of-the-art, glass-bottom cabins that seat up to 6 people. Guests will enjoy a truly unforgettable experience with panoramic views of the stunning Smokies. The increased capacity is expected to reduce wait times. The new scenic lift is expected to open in spring 2026.
Firefly Village Gets a New Look
Firefly Village is the heart and soul of Anakeesta in Gatlinburg. The expansion project includes plans to transform Firefly Village into a more whimsical environment that fosters connection! The area will receive new walkways, water features, and thoughtfully designed gathering spaces that help improve traffic flow. Expanded Treetop Skywalk
As part of the project, the popular Treetop Skywalk will be re-imagined with the addition of expanded bridges, soaring towers, and winding canopy pathways that offer guests a more complete experience in the forest. These upgrades will give visitors new vantage points that make for an even more memorable experience on the Treetop Skywalk. This portion of the expansion is expected to open in spring 2026.
A New Nighttime Attraction: The Firefly Experience
A new nighttime attraction that captures the magic of the Smokies’ famous synchronous fireflies is expected in the fall of 2026! The Firefly Experience will recreate the synchronous glow of fireflies through state-of-the-art lighting effects, sound, and storytelling. This immersive attraction will give guests a chance to experience this once-a-year phenomenon year-round once the sun has set at Anakeesta.
