The improvements to Newfound Gap Road will primarily take place along a two-mile stretch near Gatlinburg, spanning from just past the town’s boundary to the intersection near Sugarlands Visitor Center. Improvements will also be made to several roadside parking areas along this stretch.
When will construction occur on Newfound Gap Road?
Construction is expected to begin as early as April 15, and is estimated to be finished by September 27.

Yes, Newfound Gap Road will continue to be open to the public during construction, however there are plenty of single-lane closures expected throughout the project.
