City leaders have given the green light to a $31.4-million expansion project at LeConte Center in Pigeon Forge. They’re adding about 58,000 square feet of space, with about 33,000 of that dedicated to brand-new exhibit space. The project is expected to take about 2 years to complete, finishing up in late spring or early summer of 2028. The center will be able to host bigger conventions, trade shows, specialty events, you name it. The Smokies keep drawing more visitors year after year, and this project makes sure the venue keeps up with the crowds.

Upgrades You Can Expect

The expansion at LeConte Center in Pigeon Forge isn’t just about additional space. It’s packed with updates to make the guest experience easier and more comfortable. Here’s what’s in the works:

  • A bigger, friendly main entrance
  • A wider walkway for getting from the parking lot to the facility
  • A dedicated tram pickup area
  • Separate zones for vehicle pickup and dropoff
  • More restrooms
  • A grab-and-go market for snacks and drinks

These enhancements are expected to improve traffic flow, cut down on congestion during busy events, and help provide a better overall experience for visitors.

Events Will Continue During Construction

Here’s one of the best parts of the expansion project: LeConte Center will not have to close its doors to complete the renovations. Construction crews will be hard at work while the convention center continues to host a variety of events. Signature events like the Pigeon Forge Rod Runs, Jeep Invasion, Bronco Stampede, quilt shows, dance competitions, and conventions will still roll on, with organizers working hard to minimize disruptions.

A Boost for Tourism in Pigeon Forge

The expansion isn’t just good news for LeConte Center; it’s a win for the community. Bigger events means more visitors to the Smoky Mountains, which is always great news for hotels, cabin rentals, attractions, restaurants, shops, and all the little places that make Pigeon Forge special. As the venue grows, Pigeon Forge can compete for more regional and national events that bring in guests from all over. That boosts the local economy and gives visitors even more reasons to plan a trip to the Smokies.
