The big, upside-down building on the Pigeon Forge Parkway has just unveiled a new exhibit! WonderWorks, a popular attraction offering the perfect combination of education and entertainment, introduced an origami exhibit that has a focus on math. We’ve got all the details about the new exhibit at WonderWorks in Pigeon Forge and what else to expect when you visit the attraction.
Origami Exhibit at WonderWorks in Pigeon Forge
The new origami exhibit at WonderWorks is both entertaining and educational! It provides science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) learning opportunities. This STEM exhibit is designed to show people how math is related to the art of origami. Origami involves folding paper in a sequence to get a specific shape, but what most people don’t realize is its strong connection with math and how it can actually help kids understand math concepts better! It is believed to help kids learn more about geometry, fractions, and problem-solving.
The exhibit is a part of the Far Out Gallery of Wonders and is included in the regular admission price. The Gallery of Wonders is also home to optical illusion artwork that contains hidden objects and riddles to challenge guests and give them a chance to explore different perspectives.
About WonderWorks in Pigeon Forge
WonderWorks in Pigeon Forge offers 35,000 square feet of what they call “edu-tainment.” There are more than 100 hands-on exhibits through the attraction’s Wonder Zones that teach visitors more about natural disasters, space discovery, light and sound, and more. Here are all the Wonder Zones you can explore when you visit:
Natural Disasters – This Wonder Zone teaches visitors more about natural disasters through interactive experiences. You can relive an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.3 on the Richter scale, watch as the Tesla Coil emits 100,000 volts of electricity to your fingers, enter the Hurricane Hole and feel category 1 hurricane force winds of 71 miles per hour, and reach your hand into 28-degree water to feel how cold the water was when the Titanic sunk!
Physical Challenge Zone – In the Physical Challenge Zone, put your body to the test as you lie down on 3,500 nails, create bubbles the size of basketballs, pull yourself up using a rope and the help of pulleys, and more. There’s also an opportunity to go rock climbing and ride Xtreme 360 bikes!
Light & Sound Zone – In this Wonder Zone, test your reflexes to see if you can move at the speed of light, watch your shadow multiply into different colors and patterns, and strike a pose in front of a wall that shows what your shadow really feels like! You can even play a giant piano!
Space Discovery – You’ll feel like you’re on the moon in this Wonder Zone! Explore a life-size replica of an astronaut suit, climb inside a replica of one of the launched capsules, and complete the astronaut training challenge! This is also where you can ride the Wonder Coaster, where you can feel the thrills of a real roller coaster on a virtual simulator.
Imagination Lab – Your imagination will come to life in the Imagination Lab! Get creative on a gigantic version of Lite-Brite, stomp some aliens to keep them from invading Earth, and let the little ones have fun at the Fun Express! This station includes digital painting, matchmaking, simple addition and subtraction, and more.
Far Out Art Gallery – The Far Out Gallery of Wonders is home to the new origami exhibit, optical illusions, and a forensic science exhibit. In the forensic science exhibit, visitors can experience the real work of a forensic scientist through fingerprint identification, 3D facial recognition, and 3D facial imaging and reconstruction.
While you’re there, you can also experience a glow-in-the-dark indoor ropes course, or play laser tag in the Laser Tag Arena! There is plenty of fun to be had at WonderWorks in Pigeon Forge.
