Smoky Mountain Harvest Festival to Begin in September

Harvest pumpkins and pineconeThe Smoky Mountain Harvest Festival is the go-to festival in the Fall. You don’t have to look far when you are trying to find the best things to do in the Smoky Mountains during your vacation. The towns of Sevierville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg unite to provide residents and visitors with the very best the area has to offer. The festival begins on September 13 and runs through October 31. During this time, the towns will welcome fall to the Smoky Mountains. The area is alive with celebration, holding festivals and events, while showing brilliant displays of pumpkins, mums, gourds, cornstalks and scarecrows.

The fall foliage is absolutely spectacular. The vibrant colors are a show of such beauty that tourists come to the region just to drive around and enjoy the parade of color. The participating towns add to the fun by hosting a series of events that guarantee a great time will be had by one and all.

There is something for everyone at the festival. There will be shopping galore, music in the streets, craft shows everywhere and contests that challenge visitors to carve the best pumpkin or catch the biggest trout. Gatlinburg is home to the Great Pumpkin. One year the pumpkin weighed in at an incredible 600 pounds! Expect something just as amazing this year!

The Gatlinburg Convention Center will be holding the 38th Annual Gatlinburg Craftsmen’s Fair that will feature extremely creative and unique pieces of art. This is one of the most unique things to do in the Smoky Mountains because the area’s history influences the great pieces of showcased artwork. The craft lover will be able to enjoy displays of handmade toys, pottery, bird houses and metal sculptures that are truly remarkable.

Nearby, Dollywood will be hosting its Southern Gospel Jubilee to celebrate the Harvest Festival. The lineup of entertainment is fabulous and the concerts are free with Dollywood admission.
