About the New Themed Show
On May 5, Puy du Fou signed a letter of intent to develop a new themed show at “The 407: Gateway to Adventure” project. This new show will be Puy du Fou’s first attraction outside of Europe. The current plan for the new addition is a themed show inspired by stories of heroism by Cherokee natives during World War I. Puy du Fou is a team of lovers of history and cultural roots, and the show will represent that love. You haven’t seen anything like this before in the Smoky Mountains!
Meeting with the International Theme Park Company
The developers met with Puy du Fou, a historical theme park company that’s based in France, about a potential partnership in February. The company is responsible for France’s second most-visited theme park! Representatives of Puy du Fou met with the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians to talk about adding the world-class entertainment aspect to the 200-acre development project.
What is Puy du Fou?
Puy du Fou is more than your typical theme park. Based in Western France, the attraction is known for its theatrical performances and immersive shows. One immersive show at its France location is called “Le Premier Royaume,” and brings visitors into a highly immersive set, where they’ll be transported to the origins of France using effects with water, lifelike decoration, 3D video mapping and more. An attraction with experiences like this will add a brand new opportunity for family fun in the Smoky Mountains!
What is the 200-Acre Development Project?
The 200-acre development is located off Exit 407 in Sevierville and is called “The 407: Gateway to Adventure.” OE Experiences, which is a Knoxville TN-based experience development company, has been leading the search for the entertainment-focused additions to the project. Site leaders have mentioned possibilities of a world-class golf attraction, a go-kart facility and a distillery experience.
What Else is Expected at The 407: Gateway to Adventure?
Buc-ee’s, a popular Texas-based chain of fuel stations and country stores, was the first company to announce they would have a location at the Sevierville site. Buc-ee’s Family Travel Center, a 74,000 square foot flagship store, will be the largest family convenience store in the world. It will have 120 fueling stations, EV charging stations and a 250-foot car wash. While an official opening date for Buc-ee’s hasn’t been announced, developers broke ground in late September of 2021.
