Step back in time when you stay at Sheriff’s Cabin, a mid-1800s, hand-hewn cabin with huge white oak logs and beautiful dovetail notching. The ancient art of chinking shows the beauty and variations of these old logs. Located atop a private driveway in the historic Timber Ridge Community of Gatlinburg, a community of authentic and antique log homes in a truly natural setting, Sheriff’s Cabin boasts exceptional mountain views and is within minutes to Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and the national park.

Reclaimed from a Tyler County farm in West Virginia, Sheriff’s Cabin was transported and rebuilt by the Barnwood Builders in 2021 as originally featured on the DIY (now Magnolia) Network (Smoky Mountain Magic: S14 E2 on Amazon Prime). Each of the massive logs was painstakingly marked and tagged to enable accurate reconstruction and restoration of the original early settler cabin. At 602 sq. ft., this open-concept cabin features 14-ft-high stacked, chinked logs, exposed beams, and a metal roof. Sheriff’s Cabin offers a pioneer experience without any sacrifice of comfort or convenience. It has a fully furnished kitchen, dining for four, a gas stone fireplace, a washer and dryer, a private toilet and shower area, and a clothes closet. At bedtime, a king-sized bed awaits as does the inviting loft, with two single beds, for the coziest of nighttime escapes. Glass panels and windows and a glass door give natural light and allow for outdoor views. The L-shaped porch, complete with rockers, a bistro table, and a hot tub, provides relaxed outdoor living. Here cares melt away and nature is on display every day with natural vegetation, changing cloud formations, and colorful sunsets. Even rainy days offer cozy comfort on this ridge. Be watchful for bears and other wildlife as they stroll by. For outdoor cooking, the grill is conveniently located next to the parking area.
