Spence Field Hiking Trail from the Lead Cove Trail located in the Cades Cove Area the trail is 9.4 miles long round trip with an elevation gain of 3100' with a strenuous difficulty rating for hiking abilities and fitness level required. Starting out passing a piece of history seeing an old homestead site that was settled before the area became a National Park. You will enjoy plentiful flowering foliage including rhododendrons growing so thickly they form a tunnel over one part of the trail. As being led to grassy meadows along the high elevation with views looking out toward the NC side of the Great Smoky Mountains on your way up.
