Cucumber Gap Loop Hiking Trail
Cucumber Gap Loop Hiking Trail located in the Elkmont Area Area off of Elkmont Road the trail is 5.6 miles long round trip with an elevation gain of 830' with moderate difficulty rating for hiking abilities and fitness level required. Start off from Little River trailhead that follows beside the Little River and cascades across several large boulders and has several little waterfalls. Pass by the historic Elkmont resort cottages with some of the 18 cabins and a clubhouse. The trail is great for seeing wildflowers and possibly river otter. As you take the junction that forks away from the Little River the trail has a steady increase in elevation and as you go deeper into the forest area you will see more wildflowers, various plant types, and natural wildlife such as turkeys, woodpeckers, squirrels, deer, and rabbits. As you begin the loop back to end your hike you will pass more of the buildings that were part of the Elkmont original development.
