A summer vacation in Pigeon Forge, TN is all about beating the heat with some family fun: white water rafting on the Pigeon River, riding the water slides at Dollywood’s Splash Country, and…snow tubing? In the coming months, visitors to the Smokies will be able to enjoy a little slice of winter during the dog days of summer.
Pigeon Forge Snow, the area’s most hotly anticipated new attraction, will offer year-round indoor snow tubing minutes away from the Parkway. Visit My Smokies has put together a guide to everything we know about indoor snow tubing in Pigeon Forge.
What to Expect at Pigeon Forge Snow
Pigeon Forge Snow will be the first attraction of its kind in the United States. This business will use state of the art snowmaking technology to transform their 35,000 square ft. indoor facility into a winter wonderland, complete with 15 lanes of snow tubing. Instead of using synthetic material, the attraction’s slopes will be covered in genuine fresh powder.
In addition to tubing, Pigeon Forge Snow will offer other classic winter activities. There will be an awesome play area where guests can build snowmen and have snowball fights. The attraction will even sell snow cones for visitors to snack on in between all of the wintry fun.
Although the attraction will feature all of the hallmarks of winter, guests won’t have to bundle up too much when they go snow tubing in Pigeon Forge. Pigeon Forge Snow will have a comfortable temperature of around 60 – 65 °F, which is much warmer than East Tennessee’s typical winter climate.
Pigeon Forge Snow is owned by Matthew Ayers, a Sevierville native and entrepreneur. Ayers also owns The Coaster at Goats on the Roof, a popular alpine roller coaster on Wears Valley Road.
Pigeon Forge Snow’s Location
Pigeon Forge Snow will feature a great location in the heart of the city. The attraction is currently being built from the ground up on Teaster Lane, close to the Nike Clearance Store. Pigeon Forge Snow will be just a 3-minute drive from The Island shopping area.
Pigeon Forge Snow’s Opening Date
Pigeon Forge Snow does not currently have an opening date, but they anticipate being ready for visitors late in the summer of 2017. We will update this blog as soon as more information about indoor snow tubing in Pigeon Forge is available.
