Sevierville Blooms with Barbeque and Bluegrass
What is it about barbeque? It seems to evoke reactions in meat lovers that you don’t see regarding other foods. Ketchup, mustard, vinegar, dry rub, pulled pork, ribs – all of these mean something different depending on where you live and your preference. I haven’t heard a lot of arguing when it comes to kale versus cabbage.
Playing the Greens in the Smoky Mountains
You probably know all about what Sevier County has to offer – shopping, the national park, hiking, rafting, attractions, etc. But one of the best kept secrets is the three golf courses that offer challenging play and unique views.
Sevierville Store Offers Amish Wares
When you think of the Amish, you probably think of areas in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana or New York. You probably know of their well-regarded works, such as furniture, quilts and food. The good news is that you don’t have to go to those places to get some Amish goods, because we have them here in Sevier County.
It’s Baseball Time in Tennessee!
Warmer weather means it’s time for baseball to begin. Sevier County has its own minor-league baseball team, the Tennessee Smokies. And what better way to spend a sunny spring day than at the ballpark?
Cut to the Point
If you travel often, you learn about businesses that are unique to their community. Maybe it’s a local restaurant serving specialty food, or a custom tailor who uses cloth or patterns not generally found. If you come to Sevier County, chances are you’ll see or hear something about the Smoky Mountain Knife Works, and for good reason.
Apple of the Smokies Eye
As we continue our culinary tour of the Smokies, our next stop is a place you may have heard of. The Apple Barn Cider Mill & General Store started with just a barn and now has a full campus featuring a cider mill, general store, winery, and restaurants. Located just off the parkway in Sevierville, this outfit is more than just apples.
Where the Locals Go for Good Food
Whenever and wherever I travel, I always try to find something local that may not be in the tourist guide. It could be a diner or a shop selling homemade goods or somewhere to relax that’s out of the way. From time-to-time, we’ll share with you some of the places in Sevier County that you may not have heard of, but once you go, you’ll come back to them every time.
Sevierville’s Secret Spot
I love home-style, down-home, farmhouse, country cooking, and whatever-you-want-to-call-it-style meals. But sometimes I like to try something different – perhaps a dish from another region of the U.S., or even another region of the world. Often it’s not easy to find something like that when traveling. But if you’re in Sevierville and you’re wanting something out-of-the-ordinary, I suggest Bistro 109.
