This spring, visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy two new projects! The Gatlinburg Sky Lift has been hard at work renovating the lift and creating a new experience for guests: the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in North America. We’ve got all the details on the renovations for the Gatlinburg Sky Lift and the suspension bridge:
Gatlinburg Sky Lift Renovations & Suspension Bridge
The Gatlinburg Sky Lift celebrated its big reopening in May of 2017. Since then, they’ve been working on lighting and other renovations to make the experience even better. The renovations are expected to open sometime in the spring of 2019. That’s not the only thing opening in the spring, though! Visitors will be able to enjoy the SkyBridge, the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in North America. Though construction of the bridge is not yet completed, you can get a good idea of what it will look like from the Sky Lift’s Facebook post:
Along with the additions to the Gatlinburg attraction is a new plaza building. The plaza will feature eating areas and viewing decks where visitors can relax and take in gorgeous views of the mountains.
More About the Gatlinburg Sky Lift
In recent years, the Gatlinburg Sky Lift has welcomed more than 450,000 riders each year. Since it reopened in 2017, visitors can enjoy a smooth ride to the top of Crockett Mountain. Along the ride, you’ll have stunning views of the forests and mountains. The Sky Lift is open daily, year round. Here are the hours throughout the year:
Memorial Day Weekend – Labor Day: 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Early September – Late May: 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day: 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The Sky Lift is closed on Christmas Day.
Other Smoky Mountain Attractions Opening in the Spring
The Smoky Mountains will be home to several new attractions in spring of 2019. From entertainment venues to dinner shows, visitors will have plenty of new and exciting things to try! Check out some of the best things that are opening in the spring:
Ole Red Gatlinburg: Blake Shelton’s restaurant and entertainment venue, Ole Red, is coming to town. It will include a two-story bar and restaurant, retail space, performance venue, dance floor, and outside terrace. It will be the perfect place for visitors to go at night!
Wildwood Grove at Dollywood: Wildwood Grove will be Dollywood’s largest expansion ever. It’s a family-friendly area that both adults and kids will love. From rides to entertainment, Wildwood Grove is a place for families to play together and let their imaginations run wild.
Pirates Voyage: In the spring, visitors will get to enjoy some pirate fun in the Smoky Mountains! Dolly Parton’s pirate-themed dinner show, Pirates Voyage, will open adjacent to The Island in Pigeon Forge. There will be acrobatic competitions, special effects, live animals, and a pirate feast!
