childskiingAttention all winter thrill seekers! If you can’t wait until the cool weather arrives for more Gatlinburg ski trips, there’s even more reason to be excited as Ober Gatlinburg announces changes and additions to their resort.

Splitting off from Black Lift, the yet unnamed 45 feet wide slope will allow skiers and snowboarders to glide down a 635 foot run. The run will have more tree coverage than other slopes offered at the resort.

This is the first new ski slope to open at the attraction and resort since 1987. With new technology, Ober Gatlinburg, Tennessee’s only ski resort, can expand and will now be equipped with lights for night skiing and snowboarding.

Although the slopes are closed during the warm-weather months, that doesn’t mean you still can’t stop in. Ober Gatlinburg has even more attractions and restaurants open throughout the summer. During the year, there are nearly 15 activities and attractions for guests to enjoy, from carousel rides to wildlife adventures.

To reach the peak of the resort, the Aerial Tramway takes guests up a two mile ride that includes some of the best views in the Smoky Mountains. For an even clearer view of the mountains, guests can ride the Scenic Chairlift that features panoramic unobstructed views.

The indoor ice skating rink is open all year long, and there’s always something exciting to see at the Wildlife Encounter. There’s even a mini golf course and a water slide! On site are also restaurants and shops to enjoy while visiting.
