New Dog Park in Gatlinburg Coming Soon

People love bringing their dogs with them to the Smoky Mountains! There’s a dog park for all sizes and breeds in Sevierville, but a new one is coming to Gatlinburg soon! Keep reading to learn all about this new dog park in Gatlinburg:

Dog Park in Gatlinburg

dogs at the dog parkGatlinburg was one of the 15 cities in Tennessee to be awarded a $25,000 Tennessee Dog Park Dash Grant. Dog Park Dash was started by the Boyd Family Foundation in 2018, and they set a goal of opening 100 dog parks across the state. The Boyd Family Foundation is run by Randy and Jenny Boyd, as well as their sons and daughter-in-law. Randy is the President of the University of Tennessee Knoxville and founder of Radio Systems Corporation. Jenny is passionate about promoting animal welfare and wants to expand their efforts across Tennessee.

The dog park in Gatlinburg will be located at 309 Mills Park Road. It is estimated to be completed in September 2021.

Sevierville Dog Park

Visitors will be glad to have a few dog parks to take their furry family members to when visiting the Smokies. The PetSafe Unleashed Dog Park in Sevierville is a popular place for people to take their dogs and let them run and play. The park is split into small breed and large breed sections. It is open from 8 am to 9 pm during the summer, and in winter, it closes at 8 pm.

Gatlinburg Trail

This hiking trail is located right outside of downtown Gatlinburg in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The trail is considered easy at 3.8 miles roundtrip. You’ll hike alongside the West Prong of the Little Pigeon River, through the woods, and even see remains of old homesteads. Plus, your dog will have a great time exploring with you!

Mad Dog’s Creamery

If you want to grab a treat while your dog is with you, head to Mad Dog’s Creamery! There are two locations, and one is in Pigeon Forge and the other is in Gatlinburg. Mad Dog’s has delicious ice cream flavors with plenty of toppings, as well as donuts and other treats you won’t want to miss! Your four-legged friend is welcome at either location, and they have water bowls on the outdoor patios, as well as treats and toys!

Gatlinburg SkyLift Park

gatlinburg skylift parkGatlinburg SkyLift Park is a dog friendly attraction in downtown Gatlinburg. To get to the top of the mountain, you and your pet will ride the chairlift. Once you’re at the top, you can walk around the SkyDeck, visit the SkyCenter, and walk across the SkyBridge. Everyone will have a blast looking out at the Smoky Mountains at the SkyLift Park!
