Sevierville Fair to Showcase Talent and Family Fun

Kids riding roller coaster in the sunsetAs summer begins to come to a close, and the leaves slowly begin to change colors in the trees, organizers busily prepare for the 2013 Sevier County Fair. Running Sept. 2-7 at the Sevier County Fairgrounds, this year’s Sevierville fair promises a fun and exciting time for all who visit.

Entertainment for this year’s fair includes a youth talent competition, a livestock competition , a beauty pageant, exciting carnival rides, great food and special appearances from local musicians and storytellers including Bill Landry from the “Heartland Series” and Knoxville humorist  Sam Venable.

Special Events

One of the newest events for this year’s fair is the Lego building contest. Entrants are faced with the challenge of building one unique structure in either the Individual Build or Family/Team Build. Lego pieces will be provided by the Sevier County Fair.

The Lego building competition will be held Wednesday night. Individual check-in begins at 5:30 p.m. and competition will follow at 6 p.m. The team building registration begins at 6:45 and competition will begin at 7:15. Judging and the announcement of winners will directly follow each competition.

Awards will be given to the top three models in each division. The top two winners from Wednesday’s competitions will be invited to the Tournament of Champions competition on Saturday, Sept. 14 at the Knoxville TVA Fair.

Other new events for this year’s fair include free laser tag on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights; a Lumberjack Feud show Thursday night; and a Bingo tournament Saturday night from 2-4 p.m. For a more detailed explanation of all the events at this year’s fair, guests are more than welcome to visit the fair’s official website, or download a copy of the 2013 catalog.

Winner of the 2012 State Champion Fair Award, this year’s fair will be held at the Sevier County Fairgrounds at 754 Old Knoxville Highway in Sevierville.
