Dolly Parton’s Stampede in the Smokies

You probably think dinner shows are pretty easy to
do. The audience sits at their table while actors on stage go through their
rehearsed lines. Everyone applauds and enjoys their meal. Well, in Pigeon
Forge, there’s a place where dinner and a show aren’t like that at all. Some of
the participants weigh more than 1,000 pounds and have actors hanging off of
them or doing flips on their backs, have to run at full speed only to stop
within feet of a wall and do all this while the audience cheers them on.

Started 25 years ago, the Dolly Parton’s Stampede has the
perfect mix of feast and entertainment for the whole family. A friendly
competition between the North and South, this show has amazing horse-riding
stunts, special effects and music and a four-course meal. There are more than
30 horses, along with chickens and pig races, so it’s full of barnyard
excitement. The meal consists of chicken, barbeque, vegetable soup, corn,
potato, and plenty more. You certainly won’t go away hungry.

Of course with this being a Dolly Parton production,
there are lots of musical routines throughout the show. There is a live band
before the show begins to get you in the right frame of mind, there are songs
during the show and Dolly’s number “Color Me America” closes the festivities. If
you’re looking for something different the next time you’re in Pigeon Forge,
give Dolly’s Stampede a try. It’s probably unlike any dinner show you’ve seen.
