New This Summer: Rolled Ice Cream in Pigeon Forge at Curl de la Creme

A brand new ice cream shop has opened in Pigeon Forge, TN, and it’s unlike anywhere else you’ve ever visited! Curl de la Creme specializes in “rolled ice cream”, a delicious dessert that is made right in front of your eyes. Since Curl de la Creme opened at the end of June, it’s been generating a ton of positive buzz and lines have been out the door. To help you make the most of your next vacation, Visit My Smokies has put together a guide to everything you need to know about this unique destination for ice cream in Pigeon Forge.

How Curl de la Creme Makes Rolled Ice Cream

If you’re still having a hard time wrapping your head around the idea of “rolled ice cream”, don’t worry! Curl de la Creme’s ice cream is better seen than described, so be sure to watch this video filmed at the shop by the Knoxville News Sentinel:

When you visit Curl de la Creme, you’ll be able to choose from two base flavors: chocolate or vanilla. Then, you can select a mix-in such as Oreos, pretzels, peanut butter, or strawberries. If you want more than one mix-in, you can add additional items for $1 each.

Once you’ve picked your base and mix-in, the fun begins! Your mix-in will be placed on a plate that is kept at 20 degrees below freezing, and the liquid cream base will be poured on top. Next, a member of the Curl de la Creme staff will use a spatula to chop up your mix-in and spread it around the base. At this stage, the cream starts to freeze and the concoction looks a bit like scrambled eggs on a frying pan.

The ice cream is then spread into a thin sheet that takes up most of the plate. Finally, the crepe-like ice cream sheet is scraped into six little rolls. Once the rolls have been transferred to a cup, you can choose from a variety of toppings, including whipped cream, sprinkles, cherries, and more. Each cup of ice cream can have up to 3 toppings with any additional items at $1 each.

Actually Curl de la Creme has 1 mix in option not 3, and 3 toppings, and the pictures are not from this shop.
