What To Know Before You Go To Dollywood

Kids riding roller coaster in the sunsetIf you are staying in or near Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, Dollywood is a must-see attraction. The amusement park is very family oriented, and has a variety of rides, shops, shops, and dinning options for the entire family from the youngest to the oldest. If you can visit in spring or fall, before or after schools are out for the summer, there will be less crowds. The most crowded season is school breaks and holidays.  The least busy days during those times would be Sunday and sometimes mid week.  Arrive early, before the rides open at 10:00 a.m. and head for the back of the park. You can work your way up to the front and avoid the crowds eager to ride the thrill rides at the back of the park.

With a Dollywood Gold Season Pass, you will enjoy unlimited admission to Dollywood or Dollywood Splash Country and rewards like 20 percent off mouthwatering Southern cuisine and Dollywood merchandise, plus free parking. Or you could choose the Super Gold Pass admits two to both Dollywood and Dollywood’s Splash County, and it includes all the perks of the Gold Pass. Considering parking is about $10.00+ per car, more for RVs, the Gold Season Passes are an excellent value, even if you are only visiting for a few times.  If you are a Gold Pass holder, you can get a discount when you rent a single or double stroller or a motorized wheelchair. The strollers are ideal for keeping young children from getting too much sun, and it’s much easier on the hills with the strollers.

You can get a regular season pass ticket for either park or the super pass without the gold pass and that will entitle the pass-holder to unlimited admission for the year still just not the additional discounts.  The best recommendation is to have one party of your group that will always be present for visits to purchase the Gold Season Pass or the Gold Super Pass and all remaining members of the party to get a regular Season Pass or Super Pass.  The party holder of the Gold Pass would have to be present for the parking fee to be waived and when merchandise or food is being purchased.

Make sure to catch a show or two while you are at Dollywood.  Each season at Dollywood has a different featured theme with most shows changing each season.  Show schedules are available at the front entrance of the park to help you plan your day.  If you have small children, an indoor show in a cool theater gives you both a chance to rest, out of the sun.

Bring a large fanny pack or small wrist strap purse; it is easier to carry on the rides. If you are bringing a cell phone or digital camera, pack them in a waterproof plastic bag that zips closed.  That way you can ride everything and will not have to worry about riding any water rides and ruining your expensive electronics.

Dollywood is “country”, like Dolly herself, and very down-home. Dollywood is a very clean, safe park offers some of the best value family entertainment in the nation with the friendliest guest service.
