Calling All Heroes: Dollywood Unveils New Roller Coaster Ride

Are you ready to save the Smoky Mountains from a roaring fire? Dollywood is looking for future heroes to experience their newest roller coaster. FireChaser Express, set to open in 2014, will be the first dual launch and dual direction family roller coaster in Tennessee.

On November 19, representatives for Dollywood, the Herschend Family Entertainment and Gerstlauer Amusement Rides came together for the unveiling of FireChaser Express’ exciting carts. With the low height requirement of 39-inches, this new Smoky Mountain roller coaster is sure to be one that family members of all ages will enjoy!

“I think it’s a wonderful things for young kids to be able to ride this ride with their families,” said Greg Ross, Dollywood Company President. “I think you all will agree with me that it’s just a wonderful thing (for families) to be able to ride and laugh and enjoy this ride together.”

The new FireChaser Express roller coaster is just the latest in a long line of innovating rides for the Pigeon Forge amusement park. In 2012 Dollywood introduced the Wild Eagle, Tennessee’s first winged rollercoaster, that went on to win the Best New Attraction award from the National Amusement Park Historical Association in 2012. More recently, Dollywood introduced River Rush earlier this year as Tennessee’s first hydropower coaster.

FireChaser Express is not the end of Dollywood’s exciting unveilings. In 2015 the Pigeon Forge amusement park plans to open the doors a $300 million DreamMore Resort. With a total of 300 rooms, this brand new Smoky Mountain resort will be the first of its kind to the area.
