Travel In Style This Summer With Free Gatlinburg Trolley Rides

Trying to figure out the best way for you and your family to navigate the busy streets of downtown Gatlinburg this summer? Well now you are in luck because the Gatlinburg Trolley system recently announced that their summer-long free trolley rides will be returning for another year.

Dates & Times

Beginning on June 13, the Gatlinburg Trolley system will be offering free rides to all passengers between the hours of 10 a.m. and 10:30 p.m. To help accommodate the expected influx in passengers, trolley officials have also said that they will be adding stops along the trolley’s special summer route, thus bringing the total number of stops along the Parkway to an impressive 40. The free rides will continue until August 17.

Where do the Trolleys go?

The Gatlinburg Trolley has several different routes that can take guests pretty much all over the city.

• Red Route: Runs from the Gatlinburg Mass Transit Center south on River Road before heading north on the Historic Nature Trail. This route continues toward Baskins Creek via Cherokee Orchard Road before entering the Parkway at Traffic Light #6.
• Green Route: This is the route visitors will want to take if they are headed anywhere on River Road and Ski Mountain Road.
• Yellow Route: One of the more lengthy routes offered by the Gatlinburg Trolley, this route takes guests to the Gatlinburg Arts & Crafts Community and back.
• Tan Route: The tan route is the path that will take guests through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Stops along this path include the Sugarlands Visitor Center, Laurel Falls Parking Area, and the Elkmont Campgrounds.
• Blue Route: This route takes guests to the eastern part of the Parkway and the Gatlinburg city hall, as well as the Gatlinburg Community Center.
• Purple Route: This takes riders to the northern part of the Gatlinburg Parkway to the Welcome Center on The Spur.

But what if I am coming this weekend?
In case you have planned to visit the area a little before the free rides begin, do not fret because right now rides are only $2 a day with unlimited access to five of the trolley’s normal routes. The unlimited routes include the Red, Blue, Purple, Yellow and Green lines.
