Soggy Bottom Boys Coming to Gatlinburg

The band made famous by the 2000 Cohen brother comedy, The Soggy Bottom Boys, have recently announced that they will be performing an exciting show at Gatlinburg’s own Ole Smoky Moonshine Holler.

The first time the band has performed together since the movie, the band The Soggy Bottom Boys is a compilation of talents artists who collectively have won over 47 Grammy awards. The band members are as follows:

  • Dan Tyminski- vocals

  • Barry Bales- bass

  • Ron Block- banjo

  • Stuart Duncan- fiddle

  • Mike Compton- mandolin

Outside of the band, members Tyminski and Bales are well known for their musical roles in country music legend Alison Krauss and Union Station’s music. Band fiddler, Duncan, is also part of the Nashville Bluegrass Band.

Man of Constant Sorrow

The band’s most popular hit, “Man of Constant Sorrow,” was originally recorded in 1928 by Emry Arthur. However, the song was brought to life when O Brother actors George Clooney, John Turturro and Tim Blake Nelson covered the song in the film. As a result of the Hollywood hit, the song went on to win “Single of the Year” from the Country Music Association, as well as a Grammy for “Best Country Collaboration with Vocals.” The song peaked at number 35 on Billboard’s chart. Location & Admission

The Ole Smoky Moonshine Holler is located at 903 Parkway, in the heart of downtown Gatlinburg. Tickets to the show are free. The concert begins at 5 p.m. on March 22.
