New Attraction in Gatlinburg is ‘Purrfect’ for Animal Lovers

Two cats laying together with balls of yarnLocals and visitors have been anxiously counting down to opening day…awaiting the grand opening of a very unique, new attraction in Gatlinburg.

Kat Kingdom is an adventure for everyone who visits. Unlike any other attraction in the area, this one is a hands-on adventure, perfect for any cat-lovers.

The attraction will feature a number of friendly, domestic cats in a fun and clean family-friendly environment.

When you visit Kat Kingdom, you can play with, pet, brush, feed and watch the cats play. It’s completely interactive, and a great place to stop by in the afternoon when you’re looking to visit somewhere a little different on your vacation.

Cat playing with yarnYou can find this cat attraction in Gatlinburg at the Covered Bridges Shops, in the Glades Road area. There are plans to move to a larger location once the location is ready to expand.

In addition, there are also plans to incorporate a CatNip Cafe into the location. WVLT, a local news station, says that the CatNip Cafe will serve vegetarian meals, a cat boarding center where your cat can stay in luxury, themed suites and a cat Relaxation Lounge. If you are bringing your four-legged feline with you on vacation, this is a great place to let it relax and enjoy a Gatlinburg vacation.

The cost to visit the attraction is $2.50 per person, and Kat Kingdom will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

If you want to take one of the lovable cats home with you, there will be featured cats available from the Sevier County Humane Society.

Parrot Mountain

Just as their slogan says, ‘follow the rainbow to Parrot Mountain!’ The 2014 season is in full swing and Parrot Mountain is the perfect place for anyone of any age. The attraction near Gatlinburg sits on 4 acres of land, with hundreds of tropical birds and thousands of plants and flowers.

As you stroll through the gardens, you can pet and feed the beautiful birds, while enjoying the fresh mountain air. Many people enjoy purchasing lunch at that attraction, and sitting outside overlooking the mountains while watching the birds.

Rainforest Adventures Discovery Zoo

Located near Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, Rainforest Adventures Zoo has served millions of visitors since their opening day in 2001. With over 600 live animals unique to a rainforest environment, guests can find more than 130 species of animals, including mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and bugs. There’s plenty of animals to see, so this attraction is perfect for any animal lover!

Five Oaks Riding Stables

If you love horses, Five Oaks Riding Stables is the best place to spend an afternoon. With over 60 horses to choose from, and two different trails, everyone in the family will love going on a horseback riding adventure. When you ride through the 70 acre nature park, you can see a beautiful lake, and a view of Mount LeConte. You will experience stunning views as you gallop along the path, through the woods.
