The Sugarlands area in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is known for many things. There are exciting hiking trails, beautiful scenery, rich history…. and moonshine!

Formerly one of the many hideaways in the national park that housed moonshiners and bootleggers in the early 1900’s, The Sugarlands’ rich distilling history will live on in the form of one of the newest Gatlinburg moonshine businesses.

The crew at Sugarlands Distilling Company have been working hard to bring visitors to the area a new twist on traditional Smoky Mountain moonshine, all the while, still staying true to many of the old traditions from “Moonshiners Paradise.” Without further adieu, it’s time for all that hard work to pay off!

Set to open on March 21, the new Gatlinburg moonshine distillery promises to be a fun and relaxing place for guests to come enjoy a sip or two of their full-bodied moonshine. Not to mention, it’s not a party without some music, and Sugarlands plans on hosting a variety of concerts in the upcoming months for guests to enjoy.

Flavors and Favors

The master crafters at Sugarlands Distilling plan on coming out of the gate running by bringing guests six distinct and delicious flavors to satisfy any moonshine palette. Starting off with their pride and joy, Silver Cloud, other flavors being released include Appalachian Apple Pie, Blockader’s Blackberry, Butterscotch Gold, Old Fashioned Lemonade, and Southern Sweet Tea.

Along with their variety of great-tasting moonshine, Sugarlands Distilling will also be selling tons of glassware, flasks, apparel, books, music, and more! Be sure to swing by their shop to pick up your very own Sugarlands souvenir on your next visit!

Opening Celebrations

If you plan on being on town next week, be sure to swing by the new distillery on March 21 for their grand opening celebrations. Along with opening the doors and inviting their new friends in for a tour of their new distillery, Sugarlands Distilling Company will also be celebrating their grand opening with a special musical performance by Cory Branan and The Underhills. Both talented musical groups are sure to make for an exciting and memorable evening.

Sugarlands Distilling is located at 805 Parkway in downtown Gatlinburg, just around the corner from Ripley’s Aquarium.

Outdoor Expeditions

Along with bringing visitors some of the finest tasting moonshine in the Smoky Mountains, the crew at Sugarlands Distilling is also excited to take guests back to their roots with their outdoor expeditions and tours. With the help from their friends at Smoky Mountain Guides, Sugarlands invites travelers to join them as they explore the scenic beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. On your next visit to the distillery, be sure to ask them about the expeditions for more details, or give them a call today at (865) 325-1355.

Other Gatlinburg Moonshine Distilleries

Sugarlands Distilling Company is by no means the first of it’s kind to call Gatlinburg home. Moonshine hollers have become quite popular of the last few years, including the opening of Ole Smoky Moonshine and Davy Crockett’s Tennessee Whiskey.
