About the Gatlinburg Scenic Overlook

The Gatlinburg Scenic Overlook runs between the Spur and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It’s open 24/7, year-round, with the exception of road closures during inclement weather. You can park in one of the four parking areas and get out to take in the beautiful views of downtown Gatlinburg and the Smoky Mountains. Visit during the day to see a clear view of the city and mountains, or head back in the evening to see all the lights throughout the downtown area.

From the Gatlinburg Scenic Overlook, you’ll be able to view all the attractions and restaurants from above. One of the top things you will be able to see from the overlook is the Gatlinburg Space Needle. This 407-foot observation tower stands tall in the middle of Gatlinburg and is hard to miss from the scenic overlook!

Where is the Gatlinburg Scenic Overlook?

The Gatlinburg Scenic Overlook is located along the Gatlinburg Bypass. If you’re traveling from Pigeon Forge, you’ll travel towards Gatlinburg from the Pigeon Forge Parkway. After you pass the Gatlinburg Visitors Center on your right, you’ll see a sign for the Gatlinburg Bypass. If you’re traveling from Hwy 441, you’ll drive past Sugarlands Visitor Center towards Gatlinburg until you see a small sign that points to the Gatlinburg Bypass.
